The supermarket wasn't as crowded as he thought it would or should have been. He wouldn't be there long anyway, and looked out one of the tall glass display windows. The rain was coming down harder than it had been five minutes ago, leaving him to wonder if Duo would be on time to pick him up. He turned to cart towards the canned food section; after all, for a 288 day trip, shortened to 122 going steadily Mach5. He knew Quatre had already ordered most of their food, so he was to get basically stuff for snacks. And Duo could buy his own. He was ready to leave when he heard, "Heero Yuy?" Tensing, he turned to see a slightly taller sandy haired blonde, who although dressed like a man, Heero knew to be a woman, staring at him curiously. "Ten'ou." "Just a last name, huh? I don't know whether to be insulted or not." The racecar driver shook her head. "I wasn't being insulting." "Ok then. How are you?" "Fine." "Hmm, I'm that too, I guess." They stood in silence, letting people pass them. "So, you aren't going to ask about her?" Heero glared. "She's no longer my business." Haruka gave him a look. "Never stopped you before.' Sighing, he said, "So?" "Usagi is living just outside of Brussels at her family's home Everly. She's been sick lately, and thankfully Akira didn't catch anything." "Akira?" Her look went from worried to surprised. But only she knew it was false. "Her son." "Son?" "Yeah." "You two have a child?" Haruka snorted. "In case you have forgotten Heero, I'm a woman. No, Usagi gave birth to him a while after you left. She and I aren't together, never were. That's my fiancee." She pointed towards the front of the store, and Heero saw an aqua haired woman wave slightly. "I was never "with" Usagi as you put it the last time. You broke up with her; I took care of her afterward. Either go there and don't let her find out, but don't go to talk her for nothing just to mess with Koneko's mind." He nodded, taking the warning to heart as the tall woman paid for her purchases, and with a last nod, left to go out into the storm. Duo picked Heero up a few minutes later in a car he had rented. "I hate foreign cars. Americans build them correctly. I still don't know why they put the drivers on the right side." "Usagi has a son." "Who-Usagi! Wow, who'd she marry?" "No one." "Well, how'd ya find out?" "Ten'ou." Duo whistled, never taking his eyes off the road. "So, they're still together." "I was informed there was nothing ever between them." "Hmm. Didn't you walk in on them?" "Embracing, but we'd already been broken up for a week," Heero said tersely. "Is the kid yours?" "Probably. He won't be to old. Can I borrow this car tonight?" "Sure Hee-man. Here we are." Duo pulled into the opening garage door and drove the car inside. Wufei shut it behind them in the warehouse/apartments control room. Around them, people packed boxes of necessities in the trucks to be taken to the port in the morning. Two mobile suits, not put together(torso, head, arms, legs all separated) were already loaded on to the shuttle and would be assembled on the way to Mars. "Make sure you don't pack my X-BOX!" Duo yelled hysterically, running around trying to find someone who knew where it was. Immediately the food Heero bought was put into boxes that would be taken to the space shuttles living quarters. Wufei opened the door to let Heero out again, briefly wondering where 01 was going. ********* Usagi shut Akira's door as quietly as she could, thanking whatever deity listened to her that her son didn't wake up. The old former castle was quiet except for creaks usually found in manors of this age. The storm outside was going full force, and made her wince at the damage it would her property. Books, mangas, various papers, and magazines were strewn about her office haphazardly from when the window had blown open that afternoon. She started cleaning up when a voice stopped her dead. "Is he my son?" She stumbled to her feet, and stepped backward, hitting her back with the high desk. From the shadows she could vaguely make out his form, light glinting off his cobalt blue eyes. "Wha-what?!" "I'll ask again. Is your child my son? Akira." "H-Heero! What the hell-" "Damn it, answer me!" he yelled. "Yes, he is," she whispered. "Be quiet or you'll wake him up!" Heero moved toward her until the edge of the desk was biting into her back. "Did you ever plan on telling me?" Her eyes darkened. "I didn't know where you were, and it's not like that wasn't my fault. Or do you not remember breaking off our engagement, Yuy? Leave a girl at every port?" He didn't answer, staring at her face. Usagi was definitely a woman now, not the teenager who had been shy and innocent. She was slender, but not too much so. Her hair was lighter and skin tanned from being in the sun. "You were the only one I was with, Usagi." "Was." He looked away, then back. "So why did you break up with me? Was I boring?" "I had to." "WHY?" "My past. Some one found out where I was. Someone who was after me." "Are you in trouble?" "No, after the war, I was officially cleared of any so called war crimes by Vice Foreign Minister Relena Peacecraft, Lady Une, and General Lucrezia Noin. Usa, there's so much you didn't - don't know about me." "Then explain, Heero. This sounds pretty serious." Usagi went over to the brown leather loveseat, and sat down, crossing her arms. She gave him her full attention, and while her face was scowling, her eyes were sad. Heero turned away from her, and saw a picture of who he guessed Akira must be on her desk. The boy looked about four and a half. His hair was the same dark brown of Heero's, the face, the same shape, mouth, everything. Except his eyes. They were Usagi's metallic blue shade. "When I was a child, his age, and probably before, the only name I ever knew was zero-one. 01. It was a way to do de-humanities me, if such things for three year olds are possible. I was told and taught to have no emotions; a perfect soldier has none, and should do every thing he can to complete a mission. When I was seven years old, I completed my first assassination; Delegate Bryony of Sweden. He was visiting his daughter on L1. "Until I was fourteen, my life was like that. No emotions, no true thoughts for myself. Do what I'm told, train, sleep, etcetera. Then, Gundam Wing Zero was finally complete, and I was to pilot it." "Heero-" He waved her interruption off. "I spent years training to perfect my skills. I didn't know there were more gundams out there, but I sometimes suspected. How could I, a worthless soldier, fight for the colonies and win by myself? "Coming to Earth, I screwed up. Relena saw me...." he told all of what he went through in the Eve Wars, killing the innocent nation leaders, the solo fights with Zechs, meaningless battle with Wufei, and his repeated failings to kill Relena. He told her he spent a year of college in Tokyo, then had to come back to fight again, and stop Mariemaia. "Then, barely a week or so after that, I met you." She nodded, trying to understand. She did better than he thought she was. "We had been together for a year. I was planning on asking you to marry me..." he trailed off. This did surprise her. "I didn't know," she murmured. Heero sighed. "I came home, to my apartment. I found a note on my dresser telling me to watch out closer. I realized I had slipped up. Some one had found me. And if they had, then eventually, they would find out about you." He stopped there, waiting for Usagi's reaction. She gazed at him, the nodded. "I understand Heero. I just thought you had grown tired of me. I know I'm not the most, uhm, interesting person..." He grabbed her chin, forcing her attention back on him. When he kissed her, she did nothing but tense, then slowly relaxed into it. "I leave in a few days to go back to Mars." "Alright." "Would you like to come?" "To MARS?" Heero nodded. "I-I don't know. You haven't even met Akira, and I..." "In the morning." He pulled her up, sat down and laid back on the love seat, and pulled her down on top of him. She settled her head under his chin and let him put his coat over her as a blanket. "Aishiteru, Usagi." "Always and forever, Heero." ******** "OKAASAN!" That jarred the two awake at the surprised squeal. Usagi s lammed the top of her head into Heero's chin, and almost rolled off except the strong arm around her waist held her in place, then let her get up. "Okaasan?" "Come here, Akira," she held her arms out for her son, who went into the willingly, inquisitive gaze focused on the man who was holding his okaasan. "Who are you?" the child demanded. In person, Heero realized how much his son really did look like him. Same attitude; find out now. "Akira, I would like you to meet..." Usagi glanced at Heero, who nodded, "your Otousan." The boys eyes widened to saucers and he stared at Heero for a minute, then rushed at him, hugging his father tightly. Heero slowly returned it, and heard his son whisper, "I have a daddy, too." ******** Akira was chasing Duo with the water gun, and was obviously not happy. "Get back here, DUO-SAN!" Wufei smiled, proud of the boy. "Now, boy, you must sneak up on him, don't be so loud. Make sure his braid gets very wet." "Jeez," Duo muttered, listening to how Wufei coached the boy on "baka hunting" and how it was "in season all year". Usagi watched from a chair next to Lucrezia in the control room. "Have you ever been to space Usagi?" the older woman asked. "Hai. My father's company used to build colonies, and I was either in space, Tokyo, or Brussels." "Our Preventers base is just outside of Brussels." "Hai. I have been there a few times. Heero took Akira yesterday to meet some friends of his." Lucrezia nodded with a smile, happy that this shy woman had made Heero almost settle down. The pilot obviously cared for - no, loved her and his son a great deal. As the two looked back down from the ceiling high room, Trowa and Heero were giving aiming tips to the enthusiastic child, much to Quatre and Wufei's amusement, and Duo's unhappiness. Usagi looked around the warehouse. It wasn't as crowded as it had been the day before, no, it was almost empty, filled just with their clothes, and other basic necessities. Galaxia, the transport/living ship they would be taking to Mars, was one of the largest she had ever been on or seen. She wondered how long Akira would be distracted before he became bored. "What was your fathers name? I don't remember a Tsukino building colonies." "Hmm?" Noin repeated the question. "Oh, well, my parents weren't married when I was born, and my father name was Lestat de Lioncourt."(Couldn't resist.) "Oh, my." "Did you know him?" Noin shook her head, but thought of the blonde man who had died fairly young, only a few years before the Eve Wars officially started. She remembered when she was eleven hearing about his assassination on the news. "Actually," Usagi said with a sheepish grin, "my okaasan was my father's mistress. His wife, Jesse, never could have children so she let him designate me as their heir." "Oh." "I'm not embarrassed at all. I feel sorry for Jesse. She really is a nice person. Okasan and father died together, actually. The first bullet hit her, then him. I was taken care of by Jesse." Noin could only shake her head at such a thing. Her parents had always been loyal to one another, and the only other people she knew about such things going on with were Treize and Quatre. Usagi felt two strong arms going around her waist, then something covered her eyes. "Guess who?" "Uhm, Duo?" "Iie." "Trowa." "......" "Quatre?" "Grrrr.." "Oh, I know! Wufei!" Heero spun her around, only to find Usagi grinning. "Oh, it's just you, Heero." His mouth crushed her, making Usagi forget her giggles. Watching now from afar, Noin smiled to herself. Those two really were cute. "Just me?" "Uh-huh. Just you, my only love. Heero Yuy." ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*The End*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Ha ha, corny. Heero is a bit O O C, no? I didn't explain a few party, oui, but oh well, you catch my drift. I do not own any Gundam Wing characters, Usagi, Haruka, Michiru, Lestat, or Jesse. Or the X-BOX for that matter. Or Brussels. I do, however own Akira, which for the record means intelligent. Like any kid of Usagi's would be intelligent. Maybe Heero's DNA would compensate for it.
